Honorlock


 

Most of your online proctored exams will need to be taken via Honorlock, an online remote proctoring system.

  1. Computer with a webcam, microphone, and Google Chrome browser
  2. Stable high-speed internet connection
  3. A quiet and bright location to take the proctored exam

Switching Internal Webcams to External Webcams


If you do not see your external webcam as the active camera during the system diagnostics test or when completing your exam verification, please follow these steps. 

1) Select the three dots. 

2) Select the drop-down for "Integrated Webcam". 

3) Be sure to select the external webcam from the list of webcams. 

FSW requires an external side-facing webcam for all proctored exams. You can purchase a webcam on your own or request a free webcam from the IT Help Desk by filling out the Student Technology Check-Out Request form. Limit one webcam per student.

Kicked Out While Taking Exam or Webcam Feed is Blank or Frozen


Kicked Out

  • Navigate back to the exam in Canvas
  • Relaunch the exam
  • Complete the exam authentication again to re-enter the exam
If your exam timer runs out while you are in the process of re-entering the exam and you do not have multiple attempts on the exam, you will need to reach out directly to your Professor. 

Blank/Frozen Webcam Feed

  • Exit the quiz
  • Ensure your webcam is connected and functioning
  • Ensure your internet connection is stable 
  • Navigate back to the exam in Canvas
  • Relaunch the exam
  • Complete the exam authentication again to re-enter the exam

RAM/Memory Warnings


If your computer is low on memory, you may have issues taking your proctored exam. Pay attention to any warnings you may receive regarding the amount of memory available and take the steps needed to free up memory before you take your quiz. 

1) Restart your computer.

2) Open Task Manager and close all background and active applications except Chrome. 

3) Clear your Cache and Cookies.

Add Courses to Your Dashboard


1) Click on "Courses" in the Global Navigation Menu, then (2) click on "All Courses" in the menu that slides open.

2) In the "All Courses" window, locate any course that you wish to see listed on your Dashboard and click the star icon to add it to your Dashboard.

Once you have the filled-in star icon to the left of every course you want to appear on your Dashboard, click "Dashboard" to verify the changes.

Locate Your Submissions From Previous Semesters


You can retrieve your previously submitted work through your files within Canvas. 

1) Navigate to "Account" in the Global Navigation Menu.

2) Click on "Files" in the menu that slides open.

In the "My Files" folder, you will see several folders. Most items will be located in a folder titled the same as your previous course.

Other submissions may be under the "Submissions" or "Unfiled" folders.

How To Get Help


If you are experiencing a technical issue with Canvas, you can contact Canvas Support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You have three options for communicating with Canvas.

To locate your options. 

  • (1) Click "Help"

In the menu that opens, you will see your possible options for receiving technical support

  • (2) Live chat through your computer via instant messaging
  • (3) Call Canvas Support Hotline at the number displayed
  • (4) Submit a ticket, and responses will be sent to your @bucs.fsw.edu email address
