Online Course Technical Requirements

FSW Online is excited that you enrolled in an online course! Whether you are an experienced online student or new to the online learning environment, we want to provide you with the technical requirements needed to complete an online course at Florida SouthWestern State College.

Minimum Technology Requirements

  • A laptop or desktop computer with an actively supported operating system – Windows 11, macOS 14+, or ChromeOS 143+
  • 8 GB+ of RAM
  • 10 GB+ of free disk space
  • Up-to-date web browser – Chrome or Edge
  • An external webcam and microphone
  • Stable high-speed Internet

Tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices may be suitable for the completion of some coursework. Technology requirements can vary by program, so you may also be required to acquire specific software or equipment to complete the course. Look for that information in your course syllabus at the start of the semester.

Don't Have The Above Items?

We invite you to visit any of the FSW campuses to use a computer lab or a temporary kiosk laptop check-out and Wi-Fi

Students can request a webcam or a full semester loaner laptop for their online courses through the Student Technology Check-Out Request form. Once the request has been approved, an email with pickup information will be sent to the FSW student email.

Need Help?

It is essential to FSW that online students have the same access to support as those physically on campus! Remember that these resources are available to you:

On behalf of the FSW Learning Technologies team, we wish you a successful and enriching learning experience in the upcoming term!
