Online Course Technical Requirements

FSW Online is excited that you enrolled in an online course! Whether you are an experienced online student or new to the online learning environment, we want to provide you with the technical requirements needed to complete an online course at Florida SouthWestern State College.

Minimum Technology Requirements

  • A laptop or desktop computer with an updated operating system (e.g., Windows 7+, Mac OSX 10.11+, Chrome OS 58+)
    • For Proctored exams, it would be best to have Windows 10, macOS Catalina 10.15, ChromeOS 125, or later.
  • 250 MB Free Disk Space
  • 2 GB Free RAM
  • Up-to-date web browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge or Mozilla Firefox)
  • A webcam and microphone
  • Stable high-speed internet
Tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices may be suitable for the completion of some course work. Technology requirements can vary by program, so you may also be required to acquire specific software or equipment to complete the course. Look for that information in your course syllabus at the start of the semester.

Please Note: Students can request a webcam or a laptop for their online courses, please submit the form Student Technology Check-Out Request. Once the request has been approved an email with pick up information will be sent to their FSW Bucs email.

Don't Have The Above Items?

If you do not have access to the technology off-campus, we invite you to visit any of the four FSW locations to use a computer lab, a laptop check out station and WiFi.
