Access for Current Students and Employees


To gain access to the Florida SouthWestern State Wi-Fi network, you must log in with your FSW email address and Portal password. 

 

Students

How to Connect Student/Staff Network


 Apple Mobile Devices


Go into the "Settings App" on your Apple device.

  1. Then, select Wi-Fi from the menu.
  2. Make sure Wi-Fi is on.
  3. Tap FloridaSouthWesternStateCollege

  1. Type your "Username"
    • Staff: username@fsw.edu Outlook Password
    • Students: username@bucs.fsw.edu Portal Password
  2. Type your "Password"
  3. Tap on "Join"

 A Certificate will appear; tap "Trust" on the top right.

After you select "Trust," a checkmark should appear.

If you can see the "checkmark," that means you are connected.

 Android Devices


Swipe Down from your "Home" screen

Tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon to access your Wi-Fi Connections.

(1) Make sure Wi-Fi is on.

(2) Tap "FloridaSouthWesternSateCollege" located under Available networks

Fill out the following required information.

  1. Select the "PEAP" method
  2. Your email address goes in the "Identity" field
  3. Your current Portal/Canvas Password goes in the "Password" field
  4. Select "Don't Validate" for the Certificate option
  5. Select "MSCHAPV2" under the Phase 2 authentication field (This option might be under Advance)

You might need to scroll down, then tap "Connect."

It should then say, "Connected."
You are all set!

Chromebook


Click on the Wireless icon, generally, located in the bottom right of your screen.

In the new window that appears, find and click on the Wireless network icon

You should now be able to choose your Network selection options. Locate and click on FloridaSouthWesternStateCollege

In the Join Wi-Fi network pop-up:

  1. Change the EAP method to PEAP.  Please note: keep the EAP Phase 2 authentication on "Automatic," but if you have issues connecting to the Wi-Fi change it to MSCHAPV2. Your Chromebook might need an update if you do not see any of these options. 
  2. Adjust the Server CA certificate to Do not check
  3. The Identity field is your full email address
    1. Staff: username@fsw.edu
    2. Students: username@bucs.fsw.edu
  4. Password is the same as your Portal Password
  5. Click on Connect

You should now be connected to the FloridaSouthWesternStateCollege Wi-Fi network when you are presented with the green Connected label.

Linux 

 

1. Open the system menu from the right side of the top bar; there will be a small dropdown arrow; click on it, and a menu will appear.

2. Select Wi-Fi Not Connected. The Wi-Fi section of the menu will expand.

3. Click Select Network.

4. Click on FloridaSouthWesternStateCollege (make sure not to select FSW Public or FSW_Guest), then click Connect.

5. You should now see a window that says "Authentication required by Wi-Fi network."

Change the following settings:

   a. Change Authentication to PEAP

   b. For Domain, type in fsw.edu

   c. Tick the check box "No CA certificate is required."

   d. Username field is your full email address

           I. Staff: username@fsw.edu 

           II. Students: username@bucs.fsw.edu

6. Password is the same as your Portal.

7. Click Connect once all settings are changed; once connected, a Wi-Fi icon will show up on the top right of the taskbar.

How to Forget the Public Wi-Fi connection


Windows 10


  1. Left-click the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray
  2. Mouse over the Wi-Fi connection you want to "Forget."
  3. Right-click the Wi-Fi connection
  4. Highlight and select Forget

Mac


Open System Preferences.

Then, click the "Network" icon.

(1) Select Wi-Fi in the left menu.

(2) Click the box with the checkmark "Automatically join this network," so the checkmark goes away.

(3) Click Apply

After you are done, close the settings window.
