I.T. Campus Locations
The Office of Information Technology has locations on the Charlotte and Collier campuses. Students, faculty, and staff can stop by or call each location for technology support. You can locate each new office at FSW's Client Portal OIT Home.

- Students can request a webcam or a laptop for their online courses; please submit the Student Technology Check-Out Request form. Once the request has been approved, an email with pick-up information will be sent to their FSW Bucs email.
Please be aware that you must stay while we work on your computer. We cannot repair hardware issues or reinstall operating systems, but we can assist with troubleshooting what your roadblock may be.

New Quizzes Transition
The Office of Information Technology has put together a team to evaluate the impact of the upcoming mandatory transition to New Quizzes within the LMS Canvas. The New Quizzes Transition team will be putting together information and guides to assist faculty, deans, and course developers with these mandatory transitions. Zoom Phone Transition
As we move FSW forward in technology and innovation, we embark on a move from Cisco to Zoom. Zoom phones directly support FSW Anywhere, the initiative we launched last year to have a flexible, hybrid work environment providing the same access to each of you from anywhere, making it seamless between your office on campus to your office on the go or at home.
Thank you to all the staff and faculty that were part of the Zoom pilot; without your input and feedback, this would not be possible.
What is changing?
- We are moving from an older on-premise phone solution to a cloud-integrated phone system. Your calls will now come through your computer, phone, tablet, or anywhere you have Zoom installed and are logged in. That means if you are at home and logged into Zoom, calls to your office extension, internal or external, will ring on any device(s) you are using and logged into Zoom, supporting the FSW Anywhere initiative.
When is this going to take place?
- We have started migrating Lee and Collier campuses, Charlotte campus is today, and Hendry/Glades is tomorrow, 11/3/2022
Who will this impact?
- All FSW Employees will be moved to the Zoom phone. As you are migrated, your calls will start coming in via Zoom. You will see these notifications on your device with the Caller ID and phone number. You can accept or decline the call prompt on your device. Note: Please make sure you log into Zoom to receive calls and log out of Zoom when you don’t want to receive calls. If you need assistance with this, please reach out to us.
Will I still have a physical phone?
- In most cases, no. The current phones on your desk will eventually stop receiving calls as our vendors complete the routing changes. All calls are placed through a soft dialer available on any device with Zoom installed. Classrooms will still have physical phones for security reasons and some exceptions across FSW. We have headsets available for those that want to use them. Please fill out the following form, Faculty & Staff Technology Checkout, to get a headset.
Will my voicemail still go to my email?
- Yes, that functionality is available in Zoom phones as well.
Will there be any training on the new phones?
- Yes! We will be providing dates (see below) for training on all the features Zoom phones have to offer. In addition, we have set up some knowledge base articles to get you started How To: Use Zoom Phones

Technology Check-out Enhancements
You may have noticed the recent changes to our request forms for borrowing technology. We just wanted to share that The Office of Information Technology has provided hundreds of technology items to students in need. The process has been streamlined with recent automated enhancements to get needed technology into the hands of the students more quicker. We have also improved the faculty and staff technology process by including the new campus I.T. locations available for selection. If you cannot access the form or run into a roadblock, please email helpdesk@fsw.edu.

Flex-ible Classroom Space Enhancements
The Office of Information Technology has added some great new technology tools to Flex-ible classroom spaces. Easy to use setups allow faculty to launch their Zoom sessions quickly and have the students projected on the screens to immerse them with the rest of the class. Be on the lookout for a scannable Q.R. code in the classroom to quickly locate the material on leveraging these new tools.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
The Office of Information Technology has started implementing multi-factor authentication for Florida SouthWestern State College Staff and Faculty accounts. This change is being implemented to enhance the security of your accounts. To expand the release of MFA, we are making some changes to the infrastructure behind this, which has required some visible changes.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
MFA is a way to verify the identity of a person attempting to access FSW applications or accounts. Multi-Factor Authentication adds an additional level of security to the currently provided FSW username and password by requiring you to enter a verification code sent to you through a few different delivery methods. You are starting to encounter MFA when using online services from banks, health providers, and retailers like Amazon in your daily life.
Why does FSW need to move to this?
Institutions like FSW have hundreds of thousands of personally identifiable records with sensitive information in their databases and are a high-value target for global hackers. Ransomware attacks increased by over 134 percent in the last year, and 2021 was the most costly and dangerous year on record for ransomware attacks. MFA is a way to add additional levels of security to our systems and protect our information. In addition, it is also a requirement on the institution's cyber-security insurance policies.
What is changing with this update?
Effective 3/31, You will see a new log-in page that has been updated and looks similar to the image below. We wanted to be the first to let you know; this is the new log-in page for Florida SouthWestern State College.
You will log in just as you always have with your username/password.
What will I need to do?
Stay informed! Information Technology will be sending out periodic updates, posting knowledge base articles, and updating its website (www.fsw.edu/oit) as we move closer to the full implementation of MFA at FSW. Be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks.
