Hello and welcome to the FSW Faculty ProctorU Review+ (Guardian) Guide!

FSW has added the ProctorU Review+ (Guardian) service as an additional tool for faculty to leverage. ProcotorU is a remote proctoring solution.

We hope this guide helps you get started with leveraging the ProctorU Review+ (Guardian) service and let us know in the comments any suggestions to help improve this article.

Create a ProctorU Account


Before you can start creating ProctorU exams, you will need to create an account. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: It can take up to 48 business hours to activate a newly created account.

Enable ProctorU in Canvas


To get started, navigate to your Canvas course that will be using remote proctoring services.

You may need to enable the ProctorU navigational link. 

Click on "Settings" in the course navigation.

Settings tab.

  1. Click on the "Navigation" tab across the top.
  2. Locate and click the three vertical dots to the right of "ProctorU".
  3. Click on "+Enable".

Scroll to the bottom and click "Save".

The "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

You should now see ProctorU in your course navigation.

Create a ProctorU Review+ Quiz


At this time, you should have your ProctorU account created, the ProctorU tool enabled in your course, and a Canvas quiz created.

To leverage ProctorU with a Canvas quiz, take the following steps:

With your quiz created, click on the "ProctorU" tab on the left-hand side of your Canvas course.

If prompted to select the type of account, click on "Continue to Instructor Interface".

ProctorU may also request authorization to access your account. If prompted for authorization, click the "Authorize" button.

(1) Navigate to the "Unproctored Exams" tab. Then, (2) click the "Configure Exam to be proctored" button to the right of the exam you would like to setup with ProctorU.

On the "Proctoring Settings" tab: 

(1) Confirm the expected number of test-takers (pulled from the course roster).

(2) Confirm exam duration (pulled from the quiz details).

(3) Add any additional exam editors (optional).

Note: Editors are pre-identified individuals that will have access to edit the proctoring configuration settings.

(4) Click the "Next" button.

On the "Department" tab:

(1) Select the "Department" dropdown arrow.

(2) Then, click on "Review+".

Then:

(1) Select the "Term" dropdown arrow.

(2) Select the term you wish to associate the exam with.

(3) Click the "Next" button.

On the "Exam Windows" tab:

(1) Confirm the Exam Duration (pulled from the exam details).

(2) Confirm the Exam Window (pulled from the exam details).

Note: It is important that your exam window and duration is configured to end at 00:00, 00:15, 00:30, or 00:45 within Canvas.

(3) Click the "Next" button.

Identify if you would like to allow resources during the exam.

(A) If not, (1) select the "No Tools, Resources, or Behaviors allowed in Exam" option and then click "Next".

(B) To customize allowed resources, (1) select "Allow Selected Options." (2) Utilize and check boxes to indicate what resources you will be allowing your students to use during their exam. Then, (3) click "Next".

Note: If any of your test-takers require an accommodation, you must submit a form to our Support team.

On the "Notifications" tab:

(1) Confirm contact information (pulled from the ProctorU account). Note: Meazure Learning will contact this individual if there are any issues during an exam session.

(2) Add Incident Report users.

(3) Add Scheduled Appointments contacts.

(4) Then, click "Next".

On the "Summary" tab, click "Save Configurations" to finalize your proctoring configuration.

A "Success" message will appear in the upper right-hand corner if the exam has been configured successfully.

You will also receive an email confirmation.

Incident Reports


As students complete their ProctorU exam, you will receive Incident Reports which documents a potential breach of academic integrity. These will be emailed to your FSW email address, and can be accessed through the Incident Report Center in your ProctorU account.
