NOTE: As of June 1, 2023, the online course development request form must be completed and submitted by the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director.
Online Course Development Process
Courses that will be taught fully online need to be developed by faculty Subject Matter Experts (SME) in collaboration with the Learning Technologies department's team of Instructional Designers and internally reviewed using the Quality Matters rubric, prior to being placed on the schedule. Please see College Operating Procedure 03-0802 for more detailed information.
- The faculty, the department chair, and the dean/supervisor will work with FSW Online and the Learning Technologies department to select courses to be delivered in an online format and determine if the course is going to be a departmental or individual course. (See CNA Article 8.1.1 for definitions) Courses selected could be brand new courses, courses being offered by FSW Online for the first time, or courses that have been identified through the Online Course Quality Assurance Plan as needing to be redeveloped.
- Once the online course development request form is submitted by the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director, faculty in the department that have completed DEV 101 and are therefore certified in online course design, will be notified of the need for a faculty developer and be given a link to the online course development application. The Dean/Supervising Administrator will then select a faculty developer from the interested applicants to complete the course development project. The faculty requirements for developing an online course at FSW are outlined in the Collective Negotiations Agreement 2022-2025 (Article 8.1.1).
