Schedule an Appointment with an FSW Tutor

Accessing Brainfuse from Canvas

Follow the steps below to access Brainfuse:

  1. Log in to your FSW Canvas account.
  2. Navigate to any course, click the “Brainfuse Tutoring” link in the Course Navigation Menu, and then click “Launch Brainfuse”.

  3. When you use Brainfuse for the first time, you will need to click "Authorize".

  4. Finally, the Brainfuse Student Dashboard will load.

Connect with a Live Tutor

On the Brainfuse Student Dashboard, use the "Live Help” section to connect with a live agent.

To get started, complete the "Select Topic" and "Select Subject" drop-down menus, then click "Connect".

The Brainfuse Whiteboard and chat window will open, including various tools you can use to communicate with your tutor. 

  • The Whiteboard Area is on the left side of the screen and is used to interact with your tutor, write notes, and draw diagrams. 

  • The Live Chat Area is on the right side of the screen and lets you communicate with your tutor in real time by typing your questions.

To learn more about the Whiteboard Tools, click on the question mark icon in the upper-left corner.

Leave a Question for a Tutor

Need help outside of live tutoring? Submit your question to a tutor and get a response within 24 hours.

On the Brainfuse Student Dashboard, navigate to the Live Help section and click the "Send a question" link.

Then, select your topic and subject, type your question, attach any relevant files, and click "Submit Question."

Writing Lab

Brainfuse offers writing assistance through the Writing Lab and provides feedback within 24 hours.

To begin, on the Brainfuse Student Dashboard, click the “Submit Paper” button in the Writing Lab section.

Choose the type of work you are submitting, then click “Select”.

Complete all required questions on the form, as indicated by the red asterisk at the end of the question.

Click “Browse File” to upload your paper.

Click the “Submit” button once you are ready to submit your paper.

A tutor will review your paper and get back to you within 24 hours.

Once your review is complete, you will receive a notification email and an alert in the Writing Lab box on the Brainfuse Student Dashboard.

Academic Tools 

On the Brainfuse Student Dashboard, there is a range of academic tools designed to support your success:

  •  SkillSurfer: Provides self-paced lessons, videos, and practice tests to enhance your academic skills
  •  LEAP: Provides customized study plans. Complete a test to create a personalized study plan to master content in specific topics.
  •  Flashbulb: Provides flashcard study to create your own flashcards or draw from an extensive library of flashcards sets that you can transform into games, practice tests, study tables, and more.
  •  eParachute: Offers personalized recommendations for career or academic paths. Review suggested career or academic paths based on your unique profile of your interests, skills, and more.
  •  Language Lab: Offers a vocabulary builder in a variety of languages that will help you expand your vocabulary and skills in a variety of languages through flashcards, practice tests, and more.
  •  MEET: Creates online study groups and allows you to schedule online study sessions and collaborate with classmates or instructors using the Brainfuse Whiteboard.
  •  Brainwave: Creates and shares engaging content. Also, it records your activity on the Brainfuse whiteboard to create dynamic, movie-like notes (Brainwaves). Perfect for studying or sharing concepts that involve multi-step processes.

My Account 

Access your Brainfuse activity via the account menu:

  •  My Past Sessions shows all of your past tutoring sessions so that you can replay the session after it ends.
  •  My Message Center contains all your tutor responses to Writing Lab or Send Question submissions.
  •  My Tests display all of the practice tests taken. Tests can be reset from this page.
  •  My Calendar tracks any scheduled MEET sessions.
  •  My Brainwaves contains your Brainwaves to view, edit, or share with others.
