Transitioning to Honorlock


If you are transitioning to Honorlock from another proctoring service, before you can use it effectively in your course, you must remove any previous remote proctoring settings (Proctorio, ProctorU, and/or Respondus LockDown Browser) from your Canvas quizzes within the course.


Removing Proctorio from your Canvas quiz/course

In order to successfully remove Proctorio from your Canvas quizzes, please ensure that you have the Proctorio extension installed in your browser, and ensure that the 'Secure Exam Proctor "Proctorio"' item is enabled in the Course Navigation Menu in your Canvas course(s).

Click on the title of the quiz you would like to remove Proctorio from, and then click "Edit" in the upper right-hand corner.

Scroll down and uncheck the box next to "Enable Proctorio Secure Exam Proctor".

If unchecked correctly, the "Require an access code" and "Enable Proctorio Secure Exam Proctor" settings will NOT have a check next to them.

Then, scroll down and click "Save".

"Save" button.

 

Once you have removed Proctorio from all of the quizzes within a specific Canvas course, you can remove Proctorio from the Canvas course itself by first clicking on the "Settings" link in the Course Navigation Menu.

Click on the "Navigation" tab at the top.

Then, (1) click the three vertical dots to the right of the "Secure Exam Proctor (Proctorio)" item, and then (2) select "Disable".

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save".

Once you have removed Proctorio from all of the desired quizzes and Canvas courses, you can then remove the Proctorio extension from your browser by following the steps below:

First, click the puzzle piece icon in the upper-right hand corner of your browser.

Then, click "Manage extensions".

Locate the "Secure Exam Proctor" extension and select "Remove".

On the "Remove "Secure Exam Proctor"?" pop-up window, select the "Remove" button, which will remove the extension.

Removing Respondus LockDown Browser from your Canvas quiz/course

In order to successfully remove Respondus LockDown Browser from your Canvas quizzes, please ensure that the "LockDown Browser' item is enabled in the Course Navigation Menu in your Canvas course(s).

Click on the "LockDown Browser" item in the Course Navigation Menu in your Canvas course.

On the LockDown Browser Dashboard, locate the quiz that you would like to remove Respondus LockDown Browser from and click the down arrow to the left of the quiz title. (Quizzes with Respondus LockDown Browser enabled will have the phrase "Requires Respondus LockDown Browser" displayed in the quiz title, and it will display "Required" under the LockDown Browser column on the right-hand side.)

Click "Settings" from the dropdown menu.

Select the "Don't require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam" setting.

Once the "Don't require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam" setting is selected, click the "Save + Close" button.

The "Requires Respondus LockDown Browser" phrase will be removed from the quiz title, and it will display "Not Required" under the LockDown Browser column on the right-hand side.

Once you have removed Respondus LockDown Browser from all of the quizzes within a specific Canvas course, you can remove Respondus LockDown Browser from the Canvas course itself by first clicking on the "Settings" link in the Course Navigation Menu.

Click on the "Navigation" tab at the top.

Then, (1) click the three vertical dots to the right of the "LockDown Browser" item, and then (2) select "Disable".

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save".

Removing ProctorU from your Canvas quiz/course

In order to successfully remove ProctorU from your Canvas quizzes, please ensure that the "ProctorU" item is enabled in the Course Navigation Menu in your Canvas course(s).

Click on the "ProctorU" item in the Course Navigation Menu in your Canvas course. (If asked to then select "the type of account", click the "Continue to Instructor Interface" option.)

Then, (1) click on the "Proctored Exams" tab, locate the quiz you would like to remove ProctorU from, and then (2) click the settings wheel icon to the right of the quiz title.

From the dropdown menu, click "Deactivate Exam".

On the "Deactivate exam confirmation" window, select the "Confirm" button.

You will then receive a "Success" message in the upper right-hand corner if ProctorU was successfully removed from the exam.

Once you have removed ProctorU from all of the quizzes within a specific Canvas course, you can remove ProctorU from the Canvas course itself by first clicking on the "Settings" link in the Course Navigation Menu.

Installing Google Chrome


Honorlock requires a Google Chrome browser.

To install Chrome on your computer, please go here

Once Chrome has been downloaded, you'll need to use it to access your Honorlock exams.

Do not use Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.

Honorlock also requires you to install a Chrome extension. 

You will only need to do this once unless you use a different computer.

Enabling Honorlock in Your Course


To ensure Honorlock is enabled properly in your course(s) during our trial period, please place a helpdesk ticket requesting Honorlock with the CRN number or Canvas links.

Log into Canvas and navigate to your course.

Next, click the "Settings" link on the Course Navigation Menu.

Scroll to the bottom of the list and find Honorlock.

1) Click the three vertical dots icon

2) Choose + Enable

At the bottom of the page, press the "Save" button.

Quiz Setup with Honorlock


Select Honorlock from the Course Navigation in Canvas.

Please note that you may be prompted to authorize Honorlock to access your account.

If you are prompted, please select the green "Authorize" button.

A list of all the quizzes in the course will be displayed.

Find the quiz in the listing that you would like set up with Honorlock, and select the blue "Enable" button to the right of the quiz name.
