In this guide, we will cover how you can check to see if you are clear for registration, browse for classes in the MyFSW Portal, and use the public Schedule Search tool.

How to Check if You Are Clear For Registration


First, we will cover how you can check if you are clear for registration.

The first thing you’ll want to do is navigate to fsw.edu and click the "MyFSW" link at the top of the page.

After logging in, you will want to click on the "Student Profile" link, located within the "Registration and Student Profile" card.

Then, click on the "Registration and Planning" link under "Additional Links".

Then click "Am I clear for Registration?"

Start by selecting the term you’d like to check your status on.

Then, click the "Continue" button.

On the "Registration Status" page, you’ll be able to see if you have any holds preventing registration, your student status, and if your advisor has given any overrides. You can also check to see what degree you are currently pursuing on the right-hand side. If you have any items showing that you are not eligible, you will need to contact the associated department for each hold before you can register for any classes.

Click on the "Registration" link at the top of the page to navigate back to the "Registration" menu.

Browsing for Classes


Option #1: Browsing For Classes in the MyFSW Portal

Now, we will show you how to browse for classes in the MyFSW Portal.

Now that you are back on the "Registration" menu, click on "Browse Classes".

Here, you will need to select the term you want to browse for classes under.

Then, click the "Continue" button.

On the "Browse Classes" page, you can enter the search information for the class you want to browse for.

By clicking in the "Subject" box, a dropdown menu will appear with a list of all available course pre-fixes.

Click on the one you want to add it to the search box. You can also click the "X" to the left of the prefix if you added it in error.

You can also search by the course number if you have that information.

In the fields at the bottom, please also select the part of the term and campus you’d like to search for.

To view more advanced search features, click the "Advanced Search" link on the bottom right.

This will open up several additional search fields for you, such as "Instructor", "Keyword", or "Attribute".

The "Instructor" and "Attribute" fields will show a dropdown menu if you click into that box.

At the bottom of the list, you can select to view open sections only, by checking the box next to "Open Sections Only".

To launch the search, click on the "Search" button at the bottom of the screen.

On the "Search Results" page, you will see a listing of all classes that meet the criteria you provided.

You will be able to see the campus the course is taught at, a block schedule view showing course times, how many seats are available, and the CRN number of the course.

Option #2: How to Browse For Classes in the Public Schedule Search Tool

Now, we will cover how you can use the public Schedule Search tool to search for classes available during a specific semester.

The first thing you’ll want to do is navigate to fsw.edu and click "Quick Links" at the top of the page.

Then, click on the "Schedule Search" link on the right-hand side.

This will load the "Schedule Search" tool page.

To utilize the Schedule Search tool, begin by selecting your desired "Term" and "Part of Term" from the dropdown menus.

Then, select your preferred attendance options and delivery methods by checking the boxes next to your desired selections.

Next, select your desired meeting days and campus by checking the boxes next to your desired selections.

By clicking the "Subject" dropdown, a menu will appear with a list of all available course pre-fixes.

Click on the one you want to add it to the search box.

You can also search by the course number if you have that information.

You can also customize the search by selecting "Yes" or "No" for an honors course, selecting an instructor, typing a course CRN number, or selecting "Low Textbook Costs" or "Zero Textbook Costs".

If you would like to hide courses without seats available or hide Online-only courses, check the box next to the desired option(s).

Lastly, click the "Search" button.

You will then see a listing of all classes that fit the criteria you entered. Please note that results in the color green are open sections and results in the color red are closed sections.
