Accessing Google Drive and Google Docs


To access your Google Drive, go to the MyFSW, or you can access the MyFSW login by clicking on "MyFSW" on the FSW home page.

After logging into your MyFSW Portal account, you will be directed to the MyFSW Home page.

Locate the "Google Drive" card.

Please note: The Google Drive card might not be available on your Home Page; therefore, you might need to click on the "Discover more" button at the bottom of the Home Page to find it.

1) Click on the 3 vertical dots located in the top right corner.

2) Click on the "Open Google Drive" link.

Please note that you may be prompted to log into your Google account. 

Log in using your FSW username and password, and then click the blue "Next" button.

You can start using Google Docs from this page by selecting a blank or pre-made template under the "Start a new document" header.

You can also access Google Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Google Drive by clicking on the three horizontal lines in the top left-hand corner.

Uploading a file from Google Drive as an assignment submission in Canvas


Log into your Canvas account and open your course to upload a Google Drive file as an assignment submission in Canvas.

Click on the title of the assignment.

Click on the blue "Start Assignment" button in the top right-hand corner.

Click on the "Google Drive" tab under the assignment details.

Please note that you may be asked to "Authorize Google Drive Access" by signing into your Google account using your FSW email and password before accessing the documents in your Google Drive. If you experience any issues authorizing Google Drive access, please don't hesitate to reach out to the FSW IT Help Desk by calling 239-489-9202 or emailing helpdesk@fsw.edu.

In the "Select a file" window, (1) click on the file you would like to submit and (2) click the "Select" button.

Then, click on the "SUBMIT" button.

Next, click on the green "Submit Assignment" button.

After you submit your assignment, Canvas displays a message notifying you that your submission is processing. You can navigate away from the assignment submission page without disrupting the file upload. You will also receive an email notification when your submission completes processing.

Click the "OK" button to clear the notification.

Lastly, view the confirmation of your assignment submission on the right-hand side of that assignment's page.
