Purpose Statement
The purpose of maintaining Standards of Academic Progress (SOAP) is to assist Florida SouthWestern State in identifying and providing help to students who are having academic difficulties.
Guidelines
The intent of Standards of Academic Progress (SOAP) is to inform students that they are not making expected academic progress. Students are required to meet with a Student Success Advisor to discuss ways of improving their academic status and set goals to improve.
Procedures
The procedures of SOAP are managed by a committee based on data and best practices. Academic Advising and Student Success Advisors enforce the procedures and guidelines.
Standards of Academic Progress
To complete degree and certificate program requirements, students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of “C” (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better. The Director of Academic Advising or designee sends written notification to each student placed on various academic standings. Please refer to the most recent College Catalog for details outlining the standards of academic progress including the criteria for each academic standing.
