This guide will walk you through the process of editing Kaltura video settings to enable downloading videos.

How to Share a Video with a Link

Go to My Media in the Canvas Course navigation.
Locate the video you wish to share and click on its title or thumbnail to open the media page.
Click on the video to begin playback, then select the Share icon located in the top-right corner of the video player.
Use the Copy icon to copy the video link to your clipboard.
Paste and share the URL with your intended audience. Viewers will be able to access the video directly through the link, anonymously.

How to Download a Video

Only the original media owners (authors) have the ability to download their videos from Kaltura. If you are the media author, downloading allows you to share the video by sending the actual MP4 file directly to others. If you are not the media author, the download option will not be available, but you can still share the video by providing a shareable link.

Go to My Media in the Canvas Course navigation.
Locate the video you want to download, click the three dots menu.
Click on Edit to go to the video settings.
In the Edit Video menu, select the Download tab.
Check the box next to Source.
Click Save, then select Go To Media to return to the video page.
On the media page, click the three dots menu again.
Hover over Download and select Source. The video will download to your computer as an MP4 file.
You can now share the MP4 file directly with others.
