Lateral Transfer

Body

A lateral transfer happens when an employee moves from one job to another within the College, but the new position is at the same level as the current one. This means there’s no change in pay, rank, or level of responsibility, but the employee might have new tasks, a new supervisor, or work in a different department. It’s often used to give employees new experiences or help them find a better fit within the College without moving up or down the job ladder. Employees starting a new position due to a lateral transfer will be placed on a six-month introductory period.

The introductory period for lateral transfers within the Campus Police department is unique; your supervisor will complete a Member Performance Report quarterly during your introductory period as detailed in the FSW Campus Police Department General Order 35.1.
