How To: Export Google Authenticator Security Codes on iOS and Android

Please Note: If you have lost or deleted your MFA code, please contact the IT Helpdesk at 239-489-9202 for an MFA reset. A valid photo ID is required for all resets. IDs will only be verified in-person or on a live Zoom meeting during normal hours of operation

 

Follow this guide to learn how to transfer Google Authenticator security codes to a new device. 

 

While Using the Old Device:


1) Open the Google Authenticator App on iOS or Android.

2) Open the Navigation Menu in the top left corner of the screen.

3) Select Transfer Accounts. Then, select Continue.

4) Enter the passcode or password for the device.

5) Make sure all accounts that need to be exported are checked.

6) Select Export. Then, a QR code should appear on the screen. 

 


While Using the New Device:


6) Download the Google Authenticator app from the App Store or Google Play Store.

7) When the Google Authenticator App has completed downloading, open the app and select Get Started.

8) When prompted with the option to sign-in, select Use Google Authenticator Without an Account.

9) Select Add a Code, then select Import Existing Accounts?

10) Scan the QR code located on the old device.

 


While Using the Old Device:


11) Select Done. Then, either Remove All Exported Accounts or Keep All Exported Accounts. Select Done when this has been completed.
